President Donald Trump has reacted positively to the idea of rapper Nicki Minaj taking on a new role in his administration as White House press secretary.
During an October 30 interview with political commentator Benny Johnson, Trump called the suggestion a good idea and said he would think about it. He also jokingly suggested Johnson could be suitable for the position.
The discussion followed an October 25 social media post from White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who shared a video of Minaj discussing Trump’s leadership aboard Air Force One. Cheung jokingly suggested that the rapper could become the administration’s next press secretary.
Minaj has become increasingly vocal about her support for Trump. She joined him at a Republican campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 25, where she expressed her continued support for the president.
The White House press secretary position has been vacant following Katie Zacharia’s departure in October.
Despite Trump’s favorable response, there has been no official announcement that Minaj is being considered or has been offered the position.
